More than 1,000,000 people tuned in to watch a trailer for “The Last Jedi,” the first new Star Wars film since the release of “The Force Awakens.”
But many viewers were left wondering what the new trailer would be about.
The trailer revealed only a few new characters and scenes from the Star Wars universe, including a character named Finn, played by Mark Hamill.
It’s unclear why this was necessary, since the trailer is almost entirely set in the “Old Republic,” the fictional galaxy far, far away.
The trailer also did not feature any footage of the film’s main characters, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa.
Instead, the trailer revealed a few familiar faces, including Luke Skywalker’s son, Anakin Skywalker.
That’s not a bad thing.
After all, Anarky, Anole, Jabba, Darth Vader, and even Darth Maul are all based on real people.
The trailers were a great way to get the movie’s audience primed for what to expect in “The Empire Strikes Back,” which was released in 1977.
But the new “Star Wars” trailer doesn’t seem like a good fit for that story.
The first film in the series is set in a fictional universe that is more closely linked to real-world historical events than its predecessors.
It also features many familiar faces that fans know from other Star Wars movies.
The new “The Star Wars” films have also been criticized for introducing too many new characters to the Star Trek universe, as well as overusing an existing, recognizable brand.
“There are a lot of characters that don’t belong in the Star Empire universe,” Disney CEO Bob Iger told CNBC last month.
“So there are a bunch of people who are going to be left out of this movie.”
Even if fans want to see characters from the “New” Star Wars, they’ll likely be disappointed.
Disney has a history of failing to include many of its most popular characters, including Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and the character Darth Vader.
The “Star Trek” universe, meanwhile, is largely unexplored, and fans of other Star Trek franchises will have to wait until 2019 for a new installment in the franchise.
Still, it’s possible that “The First Order” is the answer to a few fans’ lingering questions about the new Star War.
The group’s new villain, Kylo Ren, is said to be inspired by Darth Vader and has been confirmed to be a fan favorite.
If “The Old Republic” is anything to go by, however, the answer will be a long time coming.
